St Peter’s Mbare
Donhead boys and families have raised over £20,000 for St Peter’s Mbare, one of our Companion Schools in Zimbabwe. This includes a very generous donation of £10,000, money from the London Marathon, a sponsored slim by Len Hay, one of our governors, mufti days, raffles, 2010 Carol Concert Collection and the Donhead Photography Club.
The money raised has helped enormously with stationery, books, games equipment, the installation of a water tower, urgent maintenance work for the dilapidated buildings and school fees for some of the neediest children.
H.C.P.T.
Donhead supports the Pilgrimage Trust (Group 35).
The H.C.P.T. Pilgrimage Trust exists to take people with emotional, social or physical disabilities on pilgrimage holidays to Lourdes.
So far we have raised over £1000 to help pay for some children and their carers to benefit from this worthwhile cause.
Tadworth Children’s Trust
We continue to support Tadworth Children’s Trust, which provides care, education, therapy and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities.
Wimbledon Guild
Each year during Harvest Festival time, we collect tinned and packet food and toiletries for the Wimbledon Guild. Parents are always extremely generous and the food is delivered to many groups of people including, centres for the elderly, women’s refuges, homeless shelters, a club for people with mental health problems, family centres and the Wimbledon food bank.
Samaritan’s Purse (Operation Christmas Child
Just before Christmas 2011, the families at Donhead put together nearly 100 gift-filled shoeboxes, bursting with joy, which were delivered to children living in parts of Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.
Donhead boys watched a short DVD showing the sheer delight as the recipients opened their shoeboxes.
