All pupils have a PE lesson and one games afternoon each week. In the Winter and Spring Terms the main game is Rugby, with Cricket and Athletics in the Summer Term.
The boys play other schools at Rugby, Football, Cricket, and Athletics. There is also a thriving Chess Club, which enters school tournaments. Golf has recently been introduced into the school and we take part in the IAPS National Golf Competition. Additional team training takes place after school with matches played on games afternoons and Saturdays. It is compulsory for all boys to have their kit clearly named with large name labels on the outside of all sports kit.
If required, a boy is expected to represent his School and/or House at weekends or evenings.
Every boy at Donhead is allocated a House.
House Colours are:
Campion - Yellow
Loyola - Red
Xavier - Green
Games days are as follows:
Monday - Pre-Prep (Years 1 & 2)
Tuesday - Prep (Year 5)
Wednesday - Lower Prep 1 (Year 3)
Thursday - Lower Prep 2 (Year 4)
Friday - Elements (Year 6)
On a games day the pick-up point for your son is the Sports Ground in Coombe Lane. If there is any change to these arrangements you will be notified in advance. It is possible for boys to return to Donhead by minibus if prior arrangements have been made. This would be necessary, for example, if they were returning for an after-school activity. If you are late collecting your son and do not arrive by 4.00pm he will be brought back to Donhead and should be collected from school.
All parents are encouraged to support their sons when they are taking part in inter-school matches. Details of these fixtures can be found in the School Calendar and a full list of the following weeks’ fixtures is printed in the Donhead Gazette, together with drop-off and pick-up times. Boys should arrive for matches in full school uniform for both home and away fixtures. Route maps to away fixtures are handed out to team members prior to the fixture. Should you not receive this, spare copies are obtainable from the school office. All parents are invited to tea after matches, both home and away. A voluntary contribution of £8.50 per term is requested from parents to cover the cost of home teas.
