Boys in the Prep School (Years 3-6) should be picked up after Games from the Donhead Sports Ground, using the Coombe Lane entrance. If there is any change to these arrangements parents will be notified in advance.
It is possible for boys to return to Donhead by minibus if prior arrangements have been made. This would be necessary, for example, if they were returning for an after-school activity. If a boy is late being collected, by their parent/carer, he will be brought back to Donhead and should be collected from school.
Pick up time will be later when the boys have matches in their Games afternoons, and these timings will be printed on the Team Sheets sent to all parents.
All parents are encouraged to support their sons when they are taking part in inter-school matches. Details of these fixtures can be found in the Sports Calendar and a full list of the following weeks’ fixtures is printed in the Semper Magis Newsletter, together with drop-off and pick-up times. Boys should arrive for matches in full school uniform for both home and away fixtures. Addresses and directions to our fixtures can be viewed on the Directions to Fixtures webpage. Away fixture details are also included on the team sheets, which are sent out via the Parent Portal to team members and displayed on the Games Department noticeboards. All parents are invited to a match tea afterwards, both home and away.
PE & Games Kit
It is compulsory for all boys to have their kit clearly named with large name labels on the outside of all PE & Games kit.
For PE lessons the boys will need their tracksuit, Donhead polo shirt in their House colour, white shorts, white socks and trainers (no black soles please).
For Games lessons the boys will need the Donhead reversible rugby shirt, Donhead rugby shorts, Donhead rugby socks and the Donhead sports jacket. the boys must wear football or rugby boots (with the boots of boys in LP2 and above fitted with rugby safety studs). Boys will need a towel for Games as they all must shower afterwards. Boys in LP2 and above will also need a gum shield for rugby.
Outdoor games continue as normal during the winter months, with the provisos that the weather conditions do not pose any kind of risk to health, the ground surface conditions do not make outside activity in any way unsafe, and that an individual pupil has appropriate clothing for the conditions prevailing outside. During the winter months, it can be both cold and wet, so a tracksuit and a waterproof coat (Donhead sports jacket preferred) should be packed for all Games sessions. Gloves and hats are also allowed at this time of year. If a boy does not have suitable clothing, and no suitable spare clothing can be provided, he will not be permitted to do Games that day.
Visit our Recognising Achievement webpage to learn the various ways that Donhead boys are rewarded for commitment, reliability, co-operation and performance in school matches.
