In Donhead Computing our aim is to help our boys to gain confidence in their use of technologies, while having fun. Digital literacy is an essential skill to prepare boys for the future ensuring that they know how to use technology safely and responsibly.

Boys in Prep School have one lesson of Computing per week, taught by a Computing specialist. They learn not only to understand, but to enjoy using today’s technology. Alongside specific Computing lessons ICT is increasingly used to support other curriculum areas.

Boys become proficient users of spreadsheets, presentations and desktop publishing packages as well as having an opportunity to code using Scratch, Kodu Game Lab, Redfern Crumbles and BBC Microbits. Computer programming is taught in every year group in Prep School, and the boys have a good understanding of how to use the Internet for effective research and communication

In addition Prep School boys enter The UK Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge every November in association with the University of Oxford and Google.
