It’s been an exciting week for LP1 who also had a superb trip to the Design Museum. Boys took part in an interactive workshop exploring chair design and then explored the award winning Designer, Maker User Exhibition for some drawing and discussion sessions. The Design Museum is an exciting new building near Holland Park in Kensington with the most up to date education facilities. You may wish to explore the many interesting design education films on their website with your boys as a way to talk about their visit.

ear 3 took part in a photography workshop led by Tate Photographer David Lennon. This is part of a London wide project initiated by Artist, Photographer and Film-Maker Steve McQueen (Director of the award winning film 12 Years a Slave). Over the next 9 months, McQueen is creating a unique portrait of an entire age group of London’s citizens: its Year 3 pupils. Arts organisations ArtAngel, Tate and A New Direction invited every Year 3 class in each of London’s 2,410 primary schools to be part of this epic collective portrait of the capital to be exhibited in the prestigious Duveen Halls of London’s Tate Gallery. To find out more about this exciting project exploring the collective identity of our children watch this short film and discuss with your boys further.
