CURIOSITY • CREATIVITY • COMPASSION

Through using language and hearing and seeing how others use it, children become able to describe the world, make sense of life's experiences and get things done.

English lessons include the formal requirements of the National Curriculum and activities that enrich the experiences of our children through creative and innovative teaching approaches.

Reading and writing skills progress steadily over these important first years from the tentative sounding out of a word to the thrill of reading a first ‘chapter book’ or writing a complete sentence. Children engage in regular creative writing activities and enjoy visits from authors and poets.
